Building control...
What on earth is that?

Well, here we are at another meeting! This was May 2006.

Building a new school seems to involve a lot of meetings. Once you start to have ideas there are a lot of people who have to know about what is going on, so you have to send them drawings and other written stuff and then you need to get together to talk about the difficult bits.

In the picture are (left to right), Paul our Architectural Technologist (the man who knows all about the special planted roof our school will have), Howard the Building Control Officer (who makes sure that our new building will be safe and sound for us all) and Cath our Architect (she has to understand what is needed and listens to what we want and then designs it all together).

Here we were talking about the Building Regulations, these are the rules about building. We need the new school to meet the regulations to be safe for everyone. Lots of the regulations are about saving energy, making sure the school building will stand up, the acoustics (that's about making a quiet school) and also making the building safe if there was ever a fire.

There is so much to think about it made us quite tired.
